Extending Analytical Capacity and Capabilities

 

Can you perform analysis outside of Cortex? Simply, yes.

Cortex’s ethos includes utilising existing technology investments or interfacing to address specific requirements which can be governed by a single platform. Cortex can complete the required analysis outside. This is typically when complex models have been created against Big Data sets and those models are applied to in-stream data (for example Kafka). This extends the capabilities of the analytical platform whilst retaining the Governance and Execution within Cortex.

Cortex and KX integration provides a complete Analytical Driven Intelligent Automation Framework

When in-stream analytics identifies abnormal cell behaviour it triggers Cortex. This integration enables Machine Learning algorithms and complex patterns used by KX to source the historical Corrective Actions which have been applied by Cortex. In turn, this provides Cortex with the best possible Corrective Action to be executed.

Prediction of Events

In addition to this data-driven reactive process, the same data set could be used to predict certain events. Applying the same integration and governance. Cortex ensures that the same, exception-based process is followed before Corrective Actions are applied. You are no longer reliant on people monitoring dashboards and analysing the predictive results. As an organisation, you benefit from a more secure and controlled application of predictions to your operations.

Corrective Action Timeline

Cortex applies governing rules to determine if a Corrective Action can automatically be executed or if it requires approval. If so, Cortex logs the Corrective Actions and informs the Approver that an approval is required. This could be an email with the details provided by the analysis and enriched by Cortex to make it easier for the Approver to approve or reject. The email would include a hyperlink to a Cortex LivePortal User Interface with all assigned approvals. Once approved Cortex automates the execution of the logged Corrective Action and tests the outcomes.  Each corrective action applied and its results are fed back to the Analytical solution (KX) to allow the Machine Learning to update its statistics. In a situation where a Corrective Action did not result in the expected outcome or was not successful, the Next Best Action would be applied. This could come from the Analytical solution or using the Cortex automation Flows.

In Cortex, governance is designed as a part of the automated Self-Healing concept where external processes can trigger the Master Process Request flow. This flow will determine which area the process applies to, followed by a process where the input data will be enriched. This is a critical step in the overall governance process. Cortex validates the request, for example, checking the Business Service Systems to confirm if the system involved is currently under maintenance. Corrective Actions themselves can be in a state of being updated or amended to achieve optimal outcomes. As Corrective Actions can be recommended by the analytical Machine Learning process, it is important to determine if the specific Corrective Action itself is enabled.

Validation and Completion

Validation of the approval requirements is completed and if necessary Cortex informs the approver and logs the data. The overall management of the Corrective actions is handled in Cortex. The Role-Based Access controls ensure that only certain user roles can manage Corrective Actions. Enabling or disabling a Corrective Action and if the Corrective Action requires approval or not is controlled. This enables complete control over the process.
