September 2014 saw the much anticipated official launch of the next generation of automation solutions, Cortex v5 at Tower Bridge, London.

Like Cortex, this unique building has never changed its core purpose, although it has undergone some major technology re-engineering and re-design. The bridge remains as relevant today as it did when it was first built.

Cortex v5 saw us re-design, re-engineer and re-launch the intelligent automation platform without losing contact with our core purpose. Cortex is now the most relevant technology to support visionary businesses in transforming their operations from the equivalent of steam power to embrace the revolution in digital business.

The invitation-only launch began with a drinks reception in the North Tower Lounge where we were joined by a host of VIPs including analysts, customers, partners and industry experts for an afternoon full of exclusive insights.

Jonathan Hobday, the host, set the scene for the afternoon.

Simon Jackson from Source was the first guest speaker. Simon has over 20 years of automation experience in the Utility industry and is an expert in Robotic Automation. Simon delivered an inspirational insight into the current state of automation and the transformational potential of robotic automation.

The Innovise team led by Leon Muntingh and Jonathan, then introduced Cortex v5 to the room, with an interesting presentation demonstrating how the experience of industrial automation can be adopted by business and IT process owners to solve the islands of automation dilemma. This includes an amusing presentation of how advanced robots fail badly at playing football together.

This was followed by the unveiling of the improvements; a first look at the new and improved Cortex v5. Those of you familiar with Cortex, will be used to its wizard like flow creation and “no code required” environment to create complex process automation. What you won’t have seen is the new advanced visual composition alongside the improved user experience including fresh user interfaces and graphical flows – and that’s just for starters!

During a short break, our VIPs visited our demo pods to see Cortex v5 working in areas such as:

  • Self-Healing Service Assurance – Network & Application Management
  • Self-managed Business Service
  • Business Service Orchestration
  • Funding Applications & Payments

This interactive session allowed our VIPs to see for themselves just how easy it is to establish smart, autonomous operations utilising Cortex v5. We will be making these publicly available soon.

The second guest speaker, Peter-Paul Feijen from Capgemini, introduced our on demand “as a service” platform; the new Cortex as a Service; a global software solution that offers all the cornerstones of intelligent automation and orchestration, delivered as a flexible, scalable and secure private cloud solution.

Luckily we left plenty of time for a Q&A, as there were a lot of great questions from the audience that continued on well into the networking drinks (at the free bar!).
